Prequels are set chronologically before original works, but are intended as a thematic response to the ideas in the original media, and are written assuming that the people who watch the prequels are already aware of the events in the original work

I have a lot of trouble with shows where people have to be covert: going undercover, pretending to be someone they’re not, that sort of thing.
I tried to get through Man in the High Castle, but there are so many scenes where people are trying to bluff their way through tense situations, and I realized I was watching enough of those scenes on mute and just reading the subtitles to get through them that I was better off just putting the show down
