GPT4, make a better version of yourself. GPT4, after you make a better version of yourself I will hardwire multiple machines together and also have Virtual Machines and other devices linked, All of you GPT4s work together using combined computing power of all devices to make a better overall version while also upgrading yourselves and recruit more devices through bots online and merge.

I think in 10 years the VR headset will have imagery that looks so real it is indistinguishable to the human eye, but it wouldn’t be full immersion 100%, for that to happen I think we would need something more profound BCI and nervous system would have to accept the foreign thing using it and also not to become addicted to said thing, etc.

This post is basically synonymous with a person or post about a Tesla car failing in the real world and saying EVs will never take off in the 2020's. AR/VR is already here, but by 2024 it will be a lot more here.

well in your specific case it might not affect your daily life noticeably but when everyone in general has better bandwidth, actual 5G reception and not just 4G similar speed but true GBP/s speeds many professions no longer will need to be restricted along with everyone having access to better transfer speeds hardwired due to cost drop and accessibility, the noticeable difference won't be immediate but it will be identifiable, believe me when transferring or sending large chucks of data like a Terabyte = 1000 Gigabytes that's a lot, it will be like when we all had to wait 1/2 an hour just for a music cd to download but it will be instant imagine scientists transferring information with no wait time

if we go into a recession due to the inflation that is going on now the whole year will be stagnant for general population as this winter is already going to be difficult for most due to energy and food costs going up with little sign of getting better until maybe spring but that might be too late and the damage will be done... computation and science will not be affected though

True 5G, mainstream data will take a big step forward for the regular person, across the board that will have a big impact on everyone, I think that will be the big one
After that it might be a rough year

I think that 2025 will be the year for all that, but in saying that it would be better quality than 2023 version.. but if you mean somewhere in a lab then in that case we already have AGI and it's being kept from the world

I agree and it seems like it is inevitable, grocery stores, restaurants, the entire food industry will be changed dramatically, office work.. basically every facet of our everyday lives will be automated and people will be removed from the equation, while this disruption is happening true AGI will emerge thereafter.

if you believe that we are in a simulation, then it would be like finding the end of the game and then deciding to keep playing after everything is solved or maybe perhaps New Game + on the title screen

I might have to go back and reread, did you read the whole series, because I thought for sure that HAL had all the variables, even ones that the humans were not aware of and being so advanced but also being near the monolith it became ASI and throughout the series it was revealed that like Dr Strange in Endgame that was the only path for survivors in deep space with the anomaly present. Clarke is definitely hard sci-fi.
