Ok, seen these posts one too many times now, someone tell me, is it really just Hifiman that's at fault here or is it the technology (Planar) that's the problem, i am NOT getting a Planar headphone until i get a TOTL device that lasts me at the very least 8 years

Besides that, there are a lot of things that's just better with headphones

Simpsons reference?
But no, where i live you get paid 14x a year, the 2 extra paychecks have less taxes and are usually payed around summer and winter, it's not an optional thing, they need to pay 13th and 14th salary

13th month salary should be right around the corner (or whatever the English term for that is)

I found 4 different Hesh models, but all of them look equally awfull, whatever they cost, there are far better headphone models out there, the Skullcandys are only gonna play bass, and nothing else, that's NOT something you want from a pair of quality headphones

I'd honestly just use the convenience of youtube music vanced instead of dealing with that, but it's nice to hear there are options

The problem with every music streaming service i found that isn't youtube music is that they have a severe lack of music for nieche genres, so make sure the songs you want to listen to are actually on the platform

If you want an open device and third party accessories go Anroid, they have much better software and for phones more than good enough hardware, also a much wider variety on aspect ratios, features etc...

It really depends what you are looking for, if you want something to use at your PC at home i can vouch for the quality of the HD600 and HD800S, i haven't owned other headphones form them, so it's best to go to r/HeadphoneAdvice or the daily question thread and ask for purchase advice there

Those headphones are usually made out of the cheapest materials known to man, the key to get a headphone to last long is to buy the right model and to take care of it, anything from your usual consumer brands like HyperX, Sony, Bose etc... or stuff with a Battery in it is likely do die early, headphones from a quality brand like Sennheiser can last upwards of 10 years, of course at the end of the day it's still the end user whos responsible for taking care of the product
When it comes to earpads or headbands, stay as far away as possible from that cheap vegan plastic piece of shit leather and only stick to the real quality stuff (honestly stay away from vegan products in general), velour is also a great option, anything that isn't real leather or Velour is a mistake to purchase

3D audio is almost exclusively bad sounding every single time, the Sony one isn't going to be any different, a proper headphone without any of these software toys are always gonna sound better than a "gaming" headphone with 3d audio, that software tries to target the average ear shape, and since noones ear is average it's not gonna sound good

Well i have no idea where you searched or what your budget is, but after a quick look i found this 90€ one with 35 hours of advertised playtime: https://geizhals.at/sony-nw-e393-4gb-schwarz-a1400537.html?hloc=at&hloc=de&hloc=eu&hloc=pl&hloc=uk
I have no idea if this is a good deal or not tho, i have absolutely no experience in that space, and i normally just use my phone

Imagine you have a Suzuki Hayabusa engine (that's your HD800S driver) and a Renault Clio engine (that's your cheap headphone driver) they use the same technology, but they are completely different in what they are trying to do, there is no one thing that makes them different, the entire housing, driver shape etc... is completely different from another and everything affects sound in some way or another, look at the HD660S and the HD700 for example, both use the same driver, but the different housing makes them sound very different

Reply to TOTL IEM vs headphones sound quality? by thor_Alf
I can't speak for the very TOTL but i can speak for the 300€ range with the Blessing 2, i think the best headphone "competitor" would be the HD600, and it's safe to say that i use the Blessing 2 rarely enough to the point i sometimes forget i even have those while i use the HD600s on a daily basis, IEMs really aren't all that great compared to headphones, their only real advantage is size (at least in my opinion)

HD 800S, for me that's the pinnacle of headphones, everything is just perfect, bright sound signature, wide soundstage, perfect detail retrival, and non-existent clamp force

Well i am pretty sure they are listening to the instrumental while singing, keeping rythm with something you can't hear is rather difficult
Probably a similar reason for life performance, makes it easier to hear the instruments with all the noise coming from the viewers
