Larry Kniven is another one. The Hugo award winning Ringworld was a difficult read for the same reason. Whenever a female character made an appearance my eye roll got more and more pronounced

I know exactly the series narrated by Bray you're referring to. That man is a legend in my book and his rendition of Skippy I will never forget.

I watched this as a kid and thought it was some sort of fever dream it was so wild. It wasn't until after I was in my 30s I found out it was actually a real movie.
With Fairuza Ball as Dorothy from The Craft & Waterboy fame , that was a shock to learn

I get such a thrill when it's a clear night sky. Living within so many miles of a major city obviously robs my view, which is why taking a road trip to a good stargazing spot is on my bucket list.
