Reply to Washer/Dryer Recommendations by adreamplay
I replaced my 27 year old Maytag set with a Samsung front loading pair. Washer can easily handle queen sized bedding and clothes and linens come out quite clean. You do need to leave the door open until dry and wipe the seal to avoid mold (I have never had mold), and I have not had trouble with the door alignment. Get the drawers for the base—you can store soap and irons and sewing kits below. Also, if you are over 40, you will be glad not to bend or sit to do your laundry.

Reply to A good car for an old folk? by imzeigen
A crossover. Honda CRV hybrid as they are experienced Honda owners. The Accord is the new old folksmobile, but the CRV has more body around it and is safer in an accident.

Find a basic self-defense course for women. Take it together and make it an event. Follow it up with a nice dress-up lunch. It will give her the skills she needs and you the reassurance that she can fend for herself.

Oka-b have arch support and last a while. There are some that are plain and be worn by anyone, so no gender bias, but the sizes are limited because they are sold for women.

Reply to BIFL Dutch oven: Le Creuset vs Lodge by DesignerAccount
You can use the Lodge for camping, the Le Creuset shouldn’t leave the house. Buy the LC if you will use it regularly at home for food or in a museum worthy display. There are quality less expensive ones at Marshall’s/Homegoods—cuisinart for example, and Target. See how much you use it before investing. I use mine less now that I have a single cooktop stove.
