I really like the Steam Deck! I have zero regrets purchasing the 512 GB model. It runs great and has decent battery for a handheld device. The majority of my Steam games have run just fine on it. It's also awesome for emulation gaming. I've also never had any fan issues, not sure why others have.
However, I use it quite a bit at work and also while lying down at home. If you don't plan on doing either, and you have a decent PC already, then it's not worth it I'd say. It's pretty good for desktop mode, but there's a lot more powerful PC builds you could make if you're looking at high end gaming. Albeit much more pricy, obviously.
If you are considering getting one, it's absolutely worth it imo
