Reply to US warns Africa about Wagner Group amid recruitment of prisoners to fight in Ukraine by skipthedamned
Pretty sure those countries will realize it's a bad idea when some men think the money is worth the risk and sign up, then never come back. I doubt enough will sign up to significantly boost Wagner's ranks or offset their loss of personnel. The bigger issue is Wagner getting their hands on resources to fund the war.

Wohl is a bloody sociopath who should be locked up and never be put in a position of authority over anyone for the rest of his life. He genuinely has some kind of bad wiring where he has no morals, conscience or inhibitions.

Reply to comment by Papadapalopolous in Russia recruiting U.S.-trained Afghan commandos, vets say by 29PiecesOfSilver
Sounds like they're trying to make their own version of a 'foreign legion' and this is what they're reduced to after no one volunteered and Iran, China, North Korea and all the Central Asian Republics told them to buzz off. They might get at most 200-500? That wouldn't be enough to make a big difference, unless they were used to train conscripts over a long period, which Russia is unlikely to do.
Russia just keeps trying to do a crappy imitation of what Ukraine is doing successfully, except they have no understanding or experience in doing it right, the people they hire aren't motivated or competent and they end up screwing up.
That being said, sounds like the US really screwed the commandos over, why can't the US take them in when they put their necks out, stayed loyal and fought the Taliban right up to the last minute?

Rule of thumb is a regular-type crime like murder, theft or assault in a single spot, you get thrown into the state courts. If it's something that takes place across multiple states or is specifically against the state, such as a big criminal conspiracy or terrorism, then that's under federal court.

Reply to comment by cruel_delusion in TIL Like casinos, shopping malls are intentionally designed to disorient visitors. The feeling of losing track of time and geography inside a mall is called the Gruen Transfer. by Rifletree
Gruen may finally be getting the last laugh, as dying malls are starting to be rebuilt to be more like his original vision. They're getting converted into schools, health centers and malls in big cities are often becoming mixed use developments with shops on the ground floors and offices, hotels and housing on top.
