Its moreso that housing production has dropped significantly since the great recession, its on the way back up but not nearly fast enough.

If you get a roommate you can do it. You'll be skrimping and probably rent burdened, but you'll live.
What job series? Is there opportunity to jump onto a higher ladder after GS7?

The two are self evidently substitute goods. Cheaper rent drives down the price to buy because it offers an alternative.

Isn't the height limit based on the width of the street? Is there a separate standard from different uses?
