Reply to ELI5: Why do people get treated way worse for killing a police officer in say, a car crash than if they killed a random stranger? by Impressive_Pound1363
While yes, one life shouldn’t be more valuable than other, looking at the bigger picture a cop/firefighter/EMT are more IMPORTANT to everyone than the average person, as they go through training for several hours to be at the service of everyone for “free” doesn’t matter the time of day. The unexpected loss of any of them mean that there are fewer people to help the community, along side the whole training cost for a replacement.

Reply to comment by ItsACaragor in France and Italy share a lot of cultural features, but people often fail to grasp how centralised France is compared to how decentralised Italy is, at least regarding population. Different historical paths, different political and social dynamics today. by iUseArchRS
That is a good point for Brazil(my country), the main political place is Brasilia, main economic hub São Paulo and export have several big ports, a big industrial hub in the north (Manaus) and several car manufacturers spread on the south and southwest, there are still some places that has a lot more jobs and education centers, mainly in São Paulo, but other state capitals also have strong education and economic, like Curitiba and Rio.

When I read the title I first thought it would be someone using a welder in the kitchen and the sparks ruining the floor or another furniture.
