One that I can think of off the top of my head is The Mandalorian: An Original Novel by Adam Christopher.

It was announced in mid 2020 and slated for December of that year. Then it was pushed to almost a year later, in November of 21. But then in March of 21 it was cancelled entirely.

I have wondered if the book focused on Cara Dune in some capacity, and since she was fired from the show they shelved the book instead of rewriting.

I recently read and finished this book and in the beginning I hated it.

Hated it.

Hated it.

Hated it.

It was actually the same spot as you that I realized "hold on, I'm interested..." But then other things became evident as I read through.

As I went on I realized I didn't hate the book, I just absolutely hated the main character. (Rocky is a bro though.) At some point I was enjoying the story but what was getting me through was how I wanted Grace to fail and to die. So I guess in a way there is part of me that is very happy he never made it back to Earth, but still very happy to see that Earth was saved.

The one thing I found interesting about this novel though, and caused me to dislike it, was the lack of explicit language. I kept thinking that something was off in this adult novel and I couldn't figure out what it was.

Until one page somewhere in the 300s, I think, where it says "Darn it." and the next line is someone over a comm saying "Language!" I just couldn't believe it. I know Mark Watney and Ryland Grace aren't the same people, but Watney cursing up a storm made his predicament feel real, where this felt very safe and sanitized, and I think that really went a long way towards my dislike of the man character.

Between the issues with the sex scene and the general dislike of the ending, you might not be a Stephen King fan, but also I wouldn't write him off.

If you want to try some more King give the classic stuff a go, Carrie, Christine, Salem's Lot, that sort of stuff. Early King.

I liked Fairy Tale, but in my overall ranking I'm not sure it would land so high. I feel like in the last decade I'm just enjoying but not loving his stuff, which is also okay! But if you want to pick up a banger of more recent period King you gotta read 11/22/63.

I usually drift towards film soundtracks and I go towards films of what I'm reading.

Like recently went and read The Right Stuff and Neil Armstrong's biography so I was listening to the soundtracks for the TV show of For All Mankind, then the movies First Man, The Right Stuff, Interstellar, etc. etc.

If it's a book that has a movie, like The Cabin at the End of the World/Knock at the Cabin, I'll listen to that score while reading.

Big big fan of some music in the background as I read.

This news is just still breaking my heart.

Besides Anthony’s solo work this is my favorite of his bands. Never had the chance to see them, nabbed tickets in late 2019, or early 2020????, for the Blue Sky Noise anniversary tour. Was so damn pumped. And then..well everything.

I hope they get back together one day.

Girlfriend's fam is from Abbington and recently talking about what her parent's will go as when we have kids and she's pretty sure her mom is gonna settle on Mom Mom. I kind of hope so, nothing else makes sense to me!!!
