My husband has been an operator for both and works now entirely with town water. To me there is little choice - town water is highly tested and maintained, wells can dry up, and independent costs for installation and maintenance don't make up for anything major.

Good! Psilocybin therapy changed everything for me in regards to seeking treatment for PTSD - hope to see it more prevalent in the future.

I just escaped Atlanta to move to Vermont for many, many reasons, but the lawlessness of the law was high up on the list. So many POC friends and coworkers with horror stories - can't carry a purse into stores, don't wear thick jackets, you have to buy something or you're accused of shoplifting and can be at risk for being frisked.
It was both cathartic and infuriating for my white-ass brother, who always love to be a centrist, got pulled over driving from CA to GA with his dog for our fathers surgery. Cop saw CA plates and dollars in his eyes, unlawfully put my brother in the backseat with no probable cause, and searched the car over while his anxiety-ridden dog lost it without his favorite person. All for that sweet civil forfeiture.
Atlanta cops fucking suck - reading the police blotter in VT almost makes me want to cry.

OMG I was so excited to give my brother a big ol glass bear of maple syrup for Christmas and his California girlfriend was complaining so much about how the fake stuff is better! Do they not have culture outside of VT??

Waving people ahead gives them unnecessary initiative to move immediately and without checking. This is a known impact of being too nice, as sad as it is.
Yes, you're being polite by waving them in. No, you're creating additional traffic AND potentially putting everyone at risk. Drive predictably and assume others will not, then everyone can make it home.

Oh it's a vast assumption, I admit that knowingly. I lived in the south for a long time and it would be so narrow-minded to say nothing was of value.
Like, Atlanta is probably the best city I've ever been in for concerts and know I probably won't have it that good again up here.

You will say it is worth it every moment of the day! Finding a place to live was the hardest struggle but never have I ever thought it was not what I wanted.

This!! Parts of driving south are so soulless. Coming over a hill to see a sea of retail outlets is so sad.

I used to work at the PTC pharmacy right between the trailer park and the high school.
Never has a job nearly convinced me to shoot myself mid-shift but I didn't want to think about the crowd of golf carts that'd surround me to watch and complain about the wait.

I will concede there is a distinct aura of convenience around those areas too. I find it needs balance though, being able to go out and get anything I need at any moment is too alluring!

Nearly the same, except from Minnesota, which really feels like flatter, wetter Vermont. My husband's an upstate new yorker, we were dying to get back north. Now we will never leave!

Listen, I came up here with an air of superiority to myself. "I learned to drive in Atlanta, you got nothing on me!"
It took one green plate speed demon passing me on slush to be immediately humbled.

My mother was exceptionally private about her past, so I have no real clue what I'm working with so far and hearing about past good experiences is so encouraging. Your ring sounds so special, my hope is to do something similar by pulling the stones and giving to the family as they get engaged.

As someone who just left their position in UVM administration, pretty much can confirm. They intentionally keep the unions at a level of manageable ignorance of how their systems and policy work, there's no mechanism for pay raises, and they want people to quit versus argue or change. Good riddance.

When I was a little kid, we had chickens and this one hen acted like a cock, got in a fight with a mutt, and she was inside the house for a bit while her leg recovered. That girl would wait by the fridge for my dad to give her a bit of his butterscotch ice cream, she had the family wrapped around her flight feather until the day she managed to outlive literally every other chicken on the farm.
I haven't thought about that in decades, thank you.

I left a comment in regards to being pro town water, but also this exact sentiment.
My parents had a well and an animal rescue on the property. Without a generator, a bad storm knocked the power out and it was a disaster. You don't want to be in a position where you have no power and can't flush toilets.
