Yup. I bought my daughter a used iPhone SE (2016 model) in 2020. I took it to get a new battery just so it would have full capacity, even though the one it came with was still ok. When I came back to pick it up, they told us the Touch ID sensor was bad, so they gave us a whole new phone for just the cost of the battery, $40.
No warranty, no AppleCare, not even the first owner.
