Why would I lie about this? What would I gain from pretending my mother wrote a note at age 11 or 12 saying she didn’t want to go to Hebrew school? Is that what people are doing now? Faking old notes from their parents as children?

How many 12-year-old girls want to write in cursive? Also, they had pens in the 70s.

I have known my mother and grandparents for nearly eighteen years. You know them by proxy through a single note written by a tween girl forty years ago. You don’t know shit about my family. Don’t pretend you do.

It was Hebrew school. For her bat mitzvah. It’s not that deep. My grandparents are wonderful people, and I’ve never gotten any indication their relationship with my mother is anything but loving.

I suppose, but that begs the question of why she wouldn’t just talk to them. Though I suppose being in Hebrew school implies she was less than 13, and tweens aren’t known for stellar communication skills. Alright, just answered my own question.
