He's kind of right, but people can also badly overextend themselves that way - see the 2008 crash.
Right now we are in an environment where inflation is bad and eggs of all things - usually some of the most reliable, cheapest protein - are overpriced.
If you are having a shit year financially, save when you can (some online accounts are paying 3.5% or more interest) and be kind to yourself.

Have you tried anything in a construction-type field? It wouldn't have to be straight building a building. You could do event work through IATSE at the convention center. People who work as decorators do things like staple table skirts, set up tables, things like that. Or you could be a forklift operator or something similar. That could be union or non-union, for a private company or through a union hiring hall.
Working with the general public can be draining. Sometimes a behind the scenes job (warehouse, kitchen, set-up and take-down type event work) can be better.

Reply to [Text] I’m very happy, so I have no goals?! by Mooberry_
You could have a series of small goals, or try new hobbies. A goal could be to learn to play the piano or grow tomatoes. It doesn't have to be grandiose.

Hi. I have run a marathon in the past. You need recovery days. You need days where you're NOT working out, or you will wear your body out and start to break down before the marathon date.
Marathons are about PACE. If you try to work out every day, you will wear yourself out and not even make it to the race date.
I admire your motivation, but you need to calm down a bit or you won't reach this goal.

It took 3 hours of your day to "keep a watchful eye" on kids on the bus? Where were you being bused from, because I had to work until 5ish. The driver and the other students mocked you? You had to go and meet with the principal of Msgr Clarke, who told you your mom couldn't pay your sibling's bill, so you'd have to do it for them? When you were *12*? You think that's not a scary, pressurized situation for a kid who already knows their mom's a mess with a lot of money problems? You think that's not like hearing, "Well clearly you'll have to help parent your little sister because no one else is doing it."
You sound like the typical spoiled Msgr Clarke/Prout kid who was born on third and thought they hit a triple. I hope someday you have an actual problem, it might teach you some compassion for others. You absolutely should not be a cop, you should not have any job where you come into contact with vulnerable people.

This isn't angry in tone, it's not much of a rant. Who did you have for English and did they pass you?

Principals are mandated reporters, they are supposed to notice and report abuse to the relevant authorities. That's kind of the issue at the heart of this to me. If they're a school and have non-profit status, why are they able to get away with doing zero safeguarding of vulnerable kids?

IATSE is often just like tables, chairs, table skirts if you're deco. It's convention center/hotel event set up. It's actually not that loud.
