I wouldn’t say that I discovered this band but I long-ignored a song on their 1967 debut album until 1979, while watching the closing credits on the film “Apocalypse Now”.

The album (of which I still have) had a lot of great tracks that I used on my radio show while in college…but that one cut, “The End”, was overlooked for years until I saw that movie. Now it’s one of my favorite songs by…The Doors.

VHS did more for the porn industry than anything else. Not only did sales increase, but the quality of movies did too. Unfortunately, many of the actors (and mainly female) did not enjoy the financial rewards until much later.

However, all good things must come to an end. Remember the 1980 song "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles? One could repurpose that tune to sing "Internet Killed the Video Porn". Waiting for the next leap in porn: VR.

Zero tolerance if the band puts out a crap live album. Don’t waste my time or money if that band can’t deliver something special not found in the studio. With todays road-ready recording gear available and affordable, the quality of the music should be high…and that leaves the onus on the band to give 100%. Oh, and spare me the overdubs in post-production.

James Brown’s “Live at the Apollo” set the high bar for what a live album should have…and it was recorded using only two microphones.

Thanks for asking. He was born and died in Voss. His first wife (from my lineage) died 1856. He remarried in 1860. Four children from each marriage. Only two remained in Norway, the rest moved to Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. In America, the name was changed to Rockne. One of the sons from the second marriage is said to be the famous Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne. Not sure of Erik's financial situation but farming was probably the main income source. From the looks of the family, life must have been tough, if not as cold as we're experiencing right now in the USA. I hope to travel there sometime soon - Voss and Norway look wonderful!
