Maine had that 3 years ago and then Covid happened. I closed on my house almost 3 years ago and it is now worth $100,000 more.

I was the first time home buyer and my house had been on the market for almost 5 months before I made my offer and houses now in my area sit on the market for maybe 3 weeks before they go pending and this is the slow time for the market.

It's going to be really interesting to see what the market looks like come summer but I predict it's not going to get better.

And these are the same idiotic Mainers that can't understand why the younger generation leaves.

I've been in Maine 20 years and all the old timers do, is bitch and moan, but when you propose change that will benefit them. They'll scream and shout like toddlers till they get their way and it never happens.

Coummunity solar is not a scam. I've been using it for over a year with PowerMarket. It will save you money but you also have to be aware that you will end up with a larger power bill in the summer as the solar farm generates more power and you get billed for the portion you generate. Granted the unused portion gets rolled into a bank but you are paying for those banked credits in advanced.

My largest bill last year for the summer was $251.60 after the 15% savings was applied but my bill for this month with PowerMarket is only $78.51 and I owed CMP $13.73 even though I used just a tad over 1300 kWhs. My banked credits covered the 1300 but again, I paid in advance for them during the summer months.

I will be contacting PowerMarket and asking them to adjust my generation amount so it never goes over 750 kWh per billing cycle as I don't want to get stuck with a bill for around $325 during the summer.

It takes awhile to figure things out and I'm going to have PowerMarket adjust my allocated amount to no more than 750 kWh's per billing cycle.

I'm in Maine and a tad over 248,000 are still without power. Didn't help we had excessive winds which prevented linesmen from doing their jobs. Thankfully I never lost power but 2 miles down the road it is a different story.

A lot of people in Maine have generators and wood stoves but a lot of others do not and right now it is 20 degrees and the high for today is 21 with a low of 12 and we won't get above freezing till Thursday so for some, this could become a life threating situation.

I just check my cameras now and if my cameras are offline for more than 10 minutes I will get a notification informing me that they're offline which means either the internet is down or I've lost power.

I also get a notification for CMP if power is out at my location so I personally don't miss having a landline and an answering machine.

I use power market and there has been zero hassle. I signed up last year, have been using their service all year. The only downside is they do bill directly from a checking or savings account. With CMP I can pay them with a credit card. I can't do that with power market but thankfully for me it's not an issue.

As far as savings. I've saved close to $300 this year alone so it's been worth it. My bill for CMP each month is $13.73 and power market invoices me by email so I know how much will be debited for my checking account. It's about as hassle free as it can get.

CMP didn't raise the rate, the Public Utilities Commission did. Yes, people have legit reasons to dislike CMP but they had nothing to do with the increase.

This is something that goes out for bid every single year and again, CMP has no control over it.

Heatable isn't in my neck of the woods yet, which sucks as I only do will call but I paid $4.599 a gallon on Sept. 8th thinking I was getting a decent deal. Thankfully I had heat pumps installed in mid 2020 but I can't run my heat pumps off my generator if I lose power and it is rare that I do lose power but it is always nice to have a backup just in case.
