When I’m driving I always make sure to stop for pedestrians. It is mind boggling how many people will get annoyed at me for stopping, or how many I witness try to actually mow people down as you said.

I will say I was pleasantly surprised in long branch a few days ago, when I had to cross ocean ave on foot and three separate delivery trucks stopped for me. I was using a cross walk, not at a light. And the trucks forced everyone to stop behind them on either side of traffic to let me cross.

But I also know that was a very rare hospitable moment and sadly most drivers aren’t that courteous to pedestrians.

This is my argument!!! Every other state with a shore, has free beaches. That are maintained with lifeguards!!!

So people rallying behind beach taxes and why it’s necessary to keep them clean or have a lifeguard. Are you all brain dead? Seriously. Go visit California or Florida beaches and start demanding the people be taxed to enjoy the natural resources and just see how people react

It’s absolutely absurd our beaches aren’t free. And seaside is constantly trashed all summer despite being “maintained and cleaned.”

So the argument completely falls flat

Beaches should absolutely be free

Are state parks free this year though? If I go to island beach state park for example I can almost guarantee I have to pay a fee. Even as a local.

My husband and I were just discussing how IF you participate in a beach clean up than you SHOULD be given a beach pass for the season. Hey thanks for cleaning up the beach for free, here’s incentive to do it again. Carry in and out and leave no trace behind. Ya know?

A pipe dream I’m aware. God forbid our beaches be free. Yet countless other states along the shore have entirely free beaches throughout the state

Explain it to me like I’m 5

Check out Tom’s river near island heights. Not IN island heights, yes homes are for sale there but holy hell are the expensive. A lot of homes are going for rent and for sale in the surrounding neighborhoods though. A lot!!! I promise there are rentals available out of the 55+ communities. It might just take actually driving around to spot them out.

I was 23 and my fiancé 25 and we had a newborn, our families both kicked us out before the baby was born. By a miracle we found a cottage to rent on the shore for $1300, this was a decade ago exactly for a two bedroom one bathroom home in someone’s yard. Lots of restrictions like we couldn’t use the driveway or yard etc and landlord constantly watching us through the windows

That was a 9 month lease. Then we moved to a home in Neptune for $1400 a month, 3 bedroom and one bath with a full basement. Roof was leaking, horrible pest problem, neglectful landlords. We lasted 16 mo before we moved a final time to south Jersey

Found a home to rent for $1550 (4 bed 1 bath 1300 sq ft) which is the house we just bought in sept

I’m a full time stay at home mom, my husband was an underwater welder, roofer, pizza chef, and he had s fourth job I can’t even recall. But he was busting his ass for our family making money while I was and still am raising our kids.

Been real fun. Especially with this village of support/s heavy heavy S

Now my husband has his own welding business and he just focuses on that but he has to work 6 days a week just so we can afford this house.

Wow meat crayons, I’m also going to have to use that term if you don’t mind!

I live off of 37 near seaside, and holy, shit. The amount of racing you hear almost every night at 9 pm. It’s insane honestly. Nvm how 37 is basically a suicide mission dare you drive it at peak hours.

I’m a stay at home mom so I rarely have to get on the parkway. I avoid 37 like the plague and use backroads just to get to the ShopRite for example.

The handful of times I do have to take the parkway it’s consistently been white knuckle driving. Just because of so many erratic drivers who feel entitled to be wherever they please.

I was rear ended a decade ago, guy hit me going 50 mph as I was stopped. And pregnant. So I’m already a super vigilant driver just from that experience. Because of NJs no fault laws the guy got away with it. I tried to sue his business into oblivion…

I’ve got three kids so if I’m getting a gift card for buying, done haha. Like with old navy. We get clothes from there because a) they last and b) the sales make it worth it and then you get the old navy cash to use later. Basically the next season you need clothes is when the cash kicks in. Which helps you budget personally

Eggs are cheaper at target and Walmart than the grocery store. Target has 18 eggs for $4 and ShopRite has the same eggs for $9.50

Also online shopping is how I budget my grocery trips and it’s been a blessing. Meat and produce items, rice and pasta, and bread. I do online through ShopRite. Any hygiene products or paper I do target curbside. They have constant deals where you get gift cards just for online shopping through target. I needed soap, buy 3 cleaning products get a $10 gift card. K don’t ask me twice!

Good luck everyone. It’s rough out there right now
