Seems a bit weird that you'd not believe her straight away about Alice, given the history! You make a friend called Alice, that nobody else can see, who tells you she is your maternal cousin, from a sister that your mother swears doesn't exist, who you later find out is real and miscarried a child who she named Alice... and you're like, "lol, poor dappy old lady, yes dear, you enjoy your delusions" o_O
