For this to work you need to have a cell will enzymes and ribosomes to be able to use the DNA to make proteins It's likely that the first living organisms were simpler and then built all this machinery.

We hate Nazis because of the choices they made. If an NPC was created a Nazi for your enjoyment, he didn't make any choice, it's not his fault.

The article says many people offered to do it without payment, and some even gave them a flat screen and snacks, so presumably it cost her nothing.

Sure, there will be a need to trust the source, but you can still have some level of proof. Imagine that some politician says something horrible on camera. Then he decides to claim it's a deepfake. Using a blockchain you could prove that the video existed at a given date and had been claimed true by MSNBC, for example.
It's not great but I think it's the best we can do in the near future.

People will still want them, but hopefully they won't destroy someone's life.

There can be temporary protections or ways to detect deepfakes, but ultimately that battle will be lost. Tools like StyleGAN can produce faces of people that don't exist, so even if there is no photograph of you anywhere online, it can produce your face or something close to it.
I'd say our only hope is that we will lose interest in sex tapes when we're at the point we could assume they're all fake anyway.
Another way would be to use something like a Blockchain to prove videos are real. You wouldn't be able to prove when they're fake, but you could claim they're fake if they're not in the Blockchain at the appropriate time.

Reply to Hypothetically, if most jobs were to become obsolete from the AI revolution overnight, what would be your contingency plan? by [deleted]
I got into performance art a few years ago. It will not help me survive in a post apocalyptic world, unless I become the local lord's court jester, but in the pre apocalyptic world those jobs might last a bit longer.

ChatGPT knows about that, if you try to trick it, it explains that it's not possible to go faster than that.

It's difficult to know exactly what he is. From what I understand, he does not have an engineering diploma, but is self-taught and self-appointed. This doesn't mean he isn't skilled, but it's difficult to separate what is PR and what is true.
Anyway, IMO it doesn't matter. There are many skilled engineers that do not have the same impact that he had. What he brought to the table is the money and dedication to getting things done.

I voted "important" because he dumped money in the right places to get these groups of people working. But he's no longer relevant.

There's even a theory that proteins appeared later, since RNA can do a lot of stuff by itself and have enzymatic functions.
