Reply to comment by TinyDayDreamer0 in TIL 'Lucas' was the first movie to introduced the slow clap by SaiFromSd
I think the idea is that there's a dramatic moment in the movie where the protagonist achieves their dream or what have you, one person (a friend, mentor, or lover) starts clapping very slowly to break the deafening silence, and then slowly but surely everyone else starts joining in until there's a full minute of roaring applause from the whole crowd, and even a character or two who hated the protagonist earlier in the film will join in.

Reply to TIL in Japan you can rent a Super Mario go kart and drive through the streets of Tokyo, whilst dressed as Super Mario characters. by exporterofgold
I feel like every couple of years I see a new article saying it's been shut down for good, so sorry you won't be able to do it anymore tourists. It seems like something that should be easy to prevent from continuing, if Tokyo really did want it stop...

Reply to comment by ElfMage83 in TIL Nolan Bushnell, the inventor of Pong and founder of Atari, also founded another company: Chuck E. Cheese by PresidentWeevil
Inventor of Pong would really be Allan Alcorn, who was assigned the project by Nolan Bushnell as a sort of "training exercise."
The real TIL I've experienced though was on Allan Alcorn's Wikipedia entry, which randomly details a story of him (as chief engineer of Atari) hiring an 18-year-old "hippy kid" who smelled so bad Alcorn had to make him only work at night. That young recruit's name... Steve Jobs.
