Wear your PFD at all times. No matter how warm the day is, no matter how calm the water is. You can always spot the hacks and novices because they’re sitting on theirs.
Also, you may want to join a canoe club. They run trips with seasoned paddlers. And trainings. I learned how to paddle fast moving water and how to rescue other boaters thru the Mohawk canoe club.

If you can get the NJ Transit train to Trenton, then taxi or Uber to Lambertville.

Ha ha ha! Gladstone is not a city….. it is rich horse country. Estates on hundreds of acres. The King of Morroco used to have an estate there.
I can’t speak to the racism question, but check out Morristown. It’s a cool little city.

It also depends if you’re driving to the airport & parking your car. If you’re parking in long term parking or parking off-airport you have to give yourself an addition 30 to 45 minutes just for that.

Yes to the Catskills. Only 3 hours away.
This is our favorite place to stay…..fabulous luxury cabins with a hip & retro vibe. www.belleayrelodge.com
So pretty, so peaceful, so cool.

I agree!
We had a group that stayed in the Catskills in these really nice cabins and had a great time. One day we rode the Belleayre ski chair lift to the top of the mountain and took an easy hike along the ridge. Then nearby is this activity where you peddle these carts along an old railroad track (Railvolution I think)
The cabins we stayed at was https://www.belleayrelodge.com
The owners bent over backwards to provide our group with everything we needed…..like a gourmet tasting dinner, etc.

You may want to check out this apartment complex. I had friends who lived there. It’s on the very western part of Neptune and the commute to Colts Neck is a pretty straight shot. Walk to a nice county park (Shark River Park) with trails. All conveniences are within a few miles. 5 miles to the beach.
-2 bedroom unit is under $2500 -Dog & cat friendly….with a small dog park area -washer and dryer in unit

If you want something peaceful, scenic and outdoorsy we found this small, woodsy resort in the Catskills with these amazing modern cabins. Lots to do on the property and in the area. https://www.belleayrelodge.com/

This will be an unsustainable commute. You will quickly start thinking about moving closer or changing jobs. Also, a commute like that takes a mental and physical toll on you in a way that you’ll never be 100% sharp at work and you’ll be wiped out at home.
