I wouldn't call it a great book... The book itself is mediocre, imho, but the idea behind it is very interesting, so yeah, it's still worth the read.

Reply to Once manufacturing moves almost entirely into space and the workers want drugs, gambling and prostitution and wanted criminals on Earth can escape to space, the solar system away from gravity wells will become largely lawless. Who will do the policing and how? by [deleted]
Who sais all manufacturing will move to space? I seriously doubt that. Also: There are rules regarding laws at sea, which could simply be adapted for space. I agree it will be harder to enforce them than on earth, but I don't think space will be lawless... Why should it?

Reply to comment by Weed_O_Whirler in If an object is placed at the end of of a VERY long bar that is connected to an axel, Could rotating the bar close to the axel make the object at the other move extremely fast (like light speed)? by Swade060504
I was actually asking myself this: If the rod did not bend at all - could we even move it? I mean without any pressure wave travelling through the material it could not accelerate. So wouldn't perfect rigidity require an infinite speed of sound inside the material? That would make it impossible, even in a "ideal" calculation...
