Generally speaking, there are quite a few non apple options out there that will provide a great experience. I enjoy the continuity that comes with the Apple ecosystem. As a stand-alone product, the Airpods provides great sound quality.

Would skip the 14 series altogether. The 15 plus is slated to have the dynamic island, forgoing the need to shell out extra to get it on the pro. Personally am waiting for full under screen tech to be advanced enough to either have a punch hole or 100% screen

Seems like the weight of the 13 pro max deterred you from using it in bed, hence the SE purchase. Would the 14 Plus have met your needs? It’s 38 grams lighter without giving up screen size. It just lacks promotion.
