It's a variation on the Christian God's name. Basically God's witness.
In Christianity, A witness is a person totally given to God and his fellow men.

Think of a game engine like 'The construct' from The Maxtrix. It's the tools, physics, and rules a game is built around. Think Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. They used the same engine (and some assets like character models) so they kinda feel the same. Another example is Half-Life 2 and Portal. Same engine, similar feel.

Reply to comment by [deleted] in How does a studio end up with a 4-hour cut of a movie? by [deleted]
I've never made a movie and I'm going out on a limb and guessing you haven't either. So I'm not sure either of us is in any position to judge how much extra footage is too much.
I do know it's better to have too much footage than too little and it's probably better and less expensive to film extra footage while everything is still set up than to call everyone back in after the shooting is supposed done and they've likely started disassembling sets and actors have flown back home or off to other projects.

You can't really understand how the film will come together until the edit. Scenes you thought would work turn out not to. Long scenes might be cut shorter because they hang. You can't help having extra footage. Sometimes you even need to reshoot scenes while editing is going on.

Reply to eli5: What’s the difference between Tylenol, Advil and Aleve, and what are the strengths and weaknesses of each medication? by [deleted]
All 3 of those are just brand names for basic pain relievers. Advil is Ibuprofen, Tylenol is Acetaminophen, and Aleve is Naproxen Sodium. Each does something a little different. On a side note, the generic versions work just as well.
Ibuprofen - NSAID, used for the treatment of inflammation, moderate pain and fever.
Acetaminophen - used for headaches and pain as well as a fever reducer
Naproxen - helps with headaches, joint pain and muscle soreness. Also helps inflammation.

Reply to Eli5 why do we as humans, globally, accept to pay a different price for the exact same product just somewhere else on the globe? by [deleted]
Things will cost different for a lot of reasons. For example, If a fruit doesn't grow in an area the cost of keeping that fruit edibe and in good condition while also transporting it long distance, sometimes over Seas, is going to add to the cost of that fruit.
