The lack of reason to upgrade is actually astounding. I have a second gen Chromecast cuz I have a really old TV. Most new TVs come with some smart stuff built in. If you really want a remote, a Google TV is $50. I dont see the appeal for these $250 streaming boxes that do nothing more than a Chromecast.

This post has got me to google the prices of these streaming boxes, and holy inflation. They are $200-$300. I own a Chromecast Gen2 that I got for $30 7 years ago and was contenplating the GoogleTV upgrade cuz it was a $50 which is decidedly more expensive in my eyes.

Weird camera choice though. A larger 4mp camera is still only a 4mp camera.

But we did solve it, with ultrasonic fingerprint scanners and holepunch cameras. Apple decided FaceID was their next big move, and then backpedalled but couldnt straight up remove FaceID, so now they are stuck trying to reintroduce TouchID without the backlash

The physical controls on cars from 2010s were already quite minimal and worked well. Most of em used 5 buttons and a knob for the temperature, and another 5 buttons and a knob for the audio. These new touch based systems should aim to replicate that rather than put in a menu system like its a tablet. Reserve 1/3 of the screen for these 10 buttons, put in 2 physical knobs, and use the rest of the screen to do whatever fancy shit you want. Just make the 10 buttons static toggles. Hitting the heater button should turn on the heater, not pop up a menu to select the level of heating. Use it like the toggle it has always been.

Dont forget durability of that folding bit. I recon it has to be a separate panel array over the curve so if it does break, it can simply be disabled at the curve and continue as a 2 screen device.

And to add to that, Innovation in one field doesnt necessarily mean innovation in another field that relies on the other.
Bluetooth has gone on all the way upto v5.3 with a shit tonne of features. Meanwhile the average equipment manufacturer barely even needs v4.0 to get all their intended tasks to work. And the implementation nightmare of hardware limitation vs software/protocol limitation is absurd. Bluetooth Audio is straight up trash and the only way to get good audio is to design your own proprietary profile and not share it with anyone, which is what every major device manufacturer does.

I wouldnt put it past Samsung to screw up like that, but they do often fix stuff if they get backlash. Id assume people with 128gb phones will be the loudest criticism.

I get that the ars technica article said that, but kinda odd that they provided no screenshots and no other source has said the same thing. Im starting to get skeptical about there being only one unverified source for this.

People really dont know how much better Samsung UltraSonic fingerprint scanners are until you try a OnePlus/Moto/Nokia phone with an Optical Fingerprint Scanner. They legit blind you for a quick second before unlocking in the dark

The key word being "Caught". Apple isnt actively monitoring who is using Airtags for what. The clause only comes into effect if it goes to court and Apple is defamed in the process.
