If indoors, good advice. Unfortunately outdoors on cars that's not always the best plan.

Eternity yes, unless you're using a fire extinguisher on a big or growing fire.. in which case 25 seconds is a blink of an eye

I'd guess they're so a wearer with brown hair and/or skin can use them without being noticed as much (ie, at work or school). Solid design idea

I'm in that intersection regularly, it doesn't even hold a candle to crossing rt1 at Major/Sand Hill Rd going northbound. That's one I found an entirely new commute to avoid.
