Dealers hate doing software updates to modern cars, they can take hours and can tie up service bays. They'd rather do easy money makers like oil and filter changes.

All manufacturers have recalls, most aren't urgent and are often done when you bring it in for a logbook service.

Even if the car side of things fails, they could reposition themselves a battery company for other car makers. Get buyers asking "Are the batteries Teslas?"
