Turn to pilot, press? , hold lighter near pilot light, wait until thermocouple generates voltage, stop pressing?, turn to on.

If it does not stay on, or does not engage when the thermostat is 'on' replace the thermocouple.

IDK if yours has a push safety for the gas.

You might need to have it done again. My dealership replaced the faulty one with another faulty one, albeit newer. So I had to get it replaced again a year or two ago, with ANOTHER faulty one, albeit newer.
