Sony IER-Z1R, qdc Gemini, Shure SE846, RHA T20, AirPods Pro 2, Noble Fokus Pro, Bowers &Wilkins PI7

Focal Clear, STAX SR-L300 Limited Edition

I would keep the Sony IER-Z1R, most fun and grand sound while still retaining natural timbre and high technicalities so I can enjoy acoustic and electronic music. Also I use them the most, haven’t touched the others in months

A lot crappy headphones are just muddied with bass. Remove a lot of that bass and the overall detail retrieval will still be bad. It’s really just the distortion that EQ makes by adding volume to certain frequencies. One section will ruin the sound for the rest of the spectrum. That’s why tuning is important as you will hear the most resolution the driver can provide without distorting the whole thing with EQ

Ironically, tried not to write too much. I did try the hd800s 3 weeks ago at audio46. The soundstage was so wide to where real instruments sounded too far away for me. Sounds pretty good for EDM until the bass oriented tracks start playing and the feeling is missing. Z1R does it to where things have cathedral like space but are forward enough to sound right there. Maybe the hd800s were too wide for me.

Would’ve loved to experience getting a surprise higher end headphone from the girlfriend but my Focal Clear and IER-Z1R are already too expensive (took me 5 years to save for) to admit to her how much they cost.

And why is it always the summit fi headphones having the problems after a year vs 500 yr old HD600s that you won’t touch again after hearing the higher end stuff.

Honestly I always wanted an iPhone since it first came out but it was too expensive for mom to buy me one when I was a teen. I had to stick with those super slow Android phones at Metro PCS. I had something called the Samsung Admire and mom couldn't get me the flagship Galaxy S3 and no iPhone at Metro either.

After getting my first job during sophomore high school, I got the Galaxy S6 Edge after reading it beat Apple in the CPU speed. The removal of the headphone jack for iPhone 7 had me sticking with Samsung for a bit longer until they removed it then switching to LG V30.

I still stuck with Android after 120 hz displays debuted in the lineups. I saw that the same notch that was on iPhone X still on iPhone 13 so I still went with Galaxy S21 Ultra and said to myself that I will switch once they changed the damn front design which they finally did with the 14 Pro.

I finally switched to the 14 Pro Max and am loving the removal of the notch I always hated into this gimmicky but better looking dynamic island pill shape. I immediately noticed how much better my games ran and looked on iOS.

Happy to say I'm with Apple now. Even the watch series destroyed their competition. Only thing I won't get are Airpods because these Bowers & Wilkins PI7 are miles ahead in clarity but they cost alot more and they still don't have the connectivity of the Airpods but I can let that slide for the beautiful sound.
