What make you so sure the violence would not be a hell of a lot worse if it was legalised?
The most violence caused by any intoxicant is caused by alcohol; which is legal.

How do you know it has it worked? It hasn’t been legal for a century so you have nothing to compare it to, for all you know legal cocaine use would quadruple the number of users.. meaning only prohibition is keeping it down to todays user numbers.
Plus the statement that prohibition of alcohol did not work is a historical inaccuracy. Prohibition did have positive effects, including a significant decrease in alcohol consumption and a reduction in alcohol-related deaths.
