I'm guessing this is either Madison or Southington? What used to be on that sign?

It's worth noting that the loss of the library is in part due to the town voting to rebuild a brand new, bigger library, so it will get better.

For East Hartford, you could probably draw a line from the southwest corner to the northeast corner to show the division between the fairly nice area and the sketchy, crime-ridden area. I'd feel safe and comfortable in the southeast, especially if it's close to Glastonbury, which is high-end.

CT has one of the best school systems in the country in like, every category. Move out and come back if you want to compare.

Fairfield county is super expensive right now though, like, almost Los Angeles county. If you can't afford that, New Haven county is worthwhile. Lots of places within driving distance, plus trains to NYC anyway.

About 40-50 years ago, there was pretty big mob activity in the Hartford area. Then a car bomb in Rocky Hill killed one of them in public and the FBI stepped in, so it's mostly taken care of since then.

Reply to XL Center vs. Mohegan by ec34500
Mohegan is between Hartford and Providence, so there are two metro areas that meet there. XL Center is mainly just Hartford and maybe Springfield.
Also, for the same reason the CT Sun plays at Mohegan- more people are likely to buy tickets if they're there to gamble and happen to notice an event they're interested in, or vice versa where the fans are more likely to come if they can do other fun stuff like gamble.

This is equally likely to be scripted as the vid of the kid emptying the candy bowl into his bag.
