Ghost in the shell and Her is two other amazing movies but the plot of 1's and 0's becoming conscious is thin. But IF AI becomes conscious Her is a very likely scenario I think. With almost unlimited information and energy, Love and transcendence is the only way to go for consciousness. I would almost say that if AI doesn't expand and transcends like Her, then it is proof that it is not conscious.

The Matrix is actually the most interesting story to me, because it was never really clear if the AI had any subjectivity or not. I always took the essence of why Neo (the One aka consciousness) is special is because he is more then just a biological machine, he has a soul unlike any machine. In other words Consciousness transcends the physical world - AI can never be anything but a mechanistic product of the physical. That's why the matrix as this simulation that everybody is trapped in is a fantastic metaphor, because that's very much like the "real world"
