No, because winter tires usually save your ass when somebody with all-seasons blow a stop sign because they can't stop or they start sliding, my winter tires on my forester saved me at least 3 times cause someone else was outta control and I could stop on time.

They're up everywhere across Maine. Also, WV is comparable to Maine considering it's a rural state, with dying industries and an aging population. But even the Infrastructure in Morgantown is better than most of the state of Maine with bike paths, fiber internet, etc.

Maine median home price is 330k, CT is 337k. And before you say well that's because Portland, that's where you're gonna find any decent paying jobs, CT is going to have way more anyways. The jobs where I live in West Virginia pay same/more than similar positions in Maine and you can rent for well under a grand here and buy houses for 200k in the city. Maine is expensive for what you get.

Unfortunately there is morons everywhere. There is plenty of people in Maine that fly the traitor flag, despite producing men like Thomas Chamberlain.

Better comparison would be Limerick, Limington IMO. out to the NH border where you can be 45 mins from the closest grocery store (I spent a lot of time with my sister in West Newfield growing up). I would never think of Pownal/Durham area as rural. And then the other version would be Somerset County.

Reply to Question about remote camping by AcanthocephalaOk7196
If you get on some logging roads and they're not in the middle of an operation, you can usually camp out or sleep at any real pullout or clearing. I've done it quite a bit up by sugarloaf and what not, same with towards sunday river. I've run skidder trails and found canoes on spots out in the middle of nowhere, didn't use it though. Have fun!

This is pretty true, I had a decent job doing sysadmin stuff before I left Maine and I would throw out apps for other jobs and would land interviews but even with a decent paycheck, the housing is just too unreasonable.

I have a buddy who works at a Marina, and he was ringing off names of people's parents we know who came in and bought boats, one guy bought two boats. Hit the PPP loan site and he had 250k given to him. These are same people complaining about the 10k given to people with college debt.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say most of the people living in Cape are older and despite having not a much higher income can probably turn and sell their property for a good amount.
