Any city in NH is gonna be safer than most cities in the country. Just keep general sense about what to avoid and you'll 100% be fine.

That being said, Portsmouth is the gem of the state if you can afford it. Portsmouth is expensive for a reason. It's fantastic.

If you do end up in Portsmouth make sure to check out Prescott park, the Portsmouth brewery and the library. Beautiful park, great food and drinks and a fantastic library.

Tons of night life. Lots of college aged people, but also 30s (I'm 32 and I spend a lot of time in Rochester (where I live), Dover and Portsmouth.

Durham is for 20s. Hop and Grind is good tho.

Rochester

Best: centrally located to get to most of my interests but I can still live in the woods.

Worst: Rochester proper is pretty trashy. The City Beverage has a fantastic selection of craft beer, but the parking lot feels like I'm gonna get tetanus.

May Kelly's Cottage is a cute place I've always liked. Not the best food in the area, but it's delicious and the setting is cozy.

As for coffee, there's the place across from the Met. I don't know the name, I just know it's where the Coyote Rose used to be (if anyone else can fill it in, I know that's a dated reference)

If you need constant stimulation, it's not for you. If you're down for a slow-down (and stuff like not many takeout options, no public transportation, etc) it's just like any other small New England town

Yeah, I'm a gun owner but that mentality is super gross. It's like they don't realize that simply HAVING THE LOADED GUN is all you need. No need to actually shoot them.

Meanwhile, we have people in this thread literally discussing how to word the interaction with the cops so that you can play target practice with a human.

It's so fucking gross.
