Such a cool river. Stayed here for a few nights and saw a few folks kayaking down this raging monster.

I think the "soul" conversation is still worth having, as one of art's great virtues is its cathartic nature. For many human artists, it is an outlet. This is something that human-based art offers that AI (today) cannot.
There is also the connection piece between the artist and the consumer, that is currently lacking in purely AI-generated art. I think these criticisms based on the "soul" (using this as an umbrella term) of art's participants are absolutely warranted. Fear, maybe not.

That’s fair, I think I feel bombarded with the worst predictions on Reddit lately, but I in no way am proposing not to be critical and wary of advancements in AI.
I sincerely hope that openAI’s stated goals of safe AI development are never cast to the wayside, and imagine that’s part of this public trial run with chatGPT

Most likely accurate and level-headed statement I’ve read lately. Why can’t we leave it at that? I’ve read too many drastic and specific predictions by folks who are too confident about the future.

They sorta snuck up on me. I didn’t realize people kayaked it, and all of a sudden I see them whizzing by, then carrying their kayaks out of the river!
