Take a drive up to the Berkshires, maybe stop at a cheese and wine shop in Lenox and pick up something special, or head into NY state and have a look at the Catskills from a distance by walking/hanging out at the grounds of the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park (it’s free).

I believe that’s the one — I heard the same story and that’s too specific to have happened in more than one place!

Watertown is great, with easy access to route 8 for commuting, a diverse restaurant selection, good schools, and people who definitely have a live and let live vibe.

Stew’s for produce, seafood, meats and prepared foods. Watch for their sale items, they can be excellent. Trader Joe’s for cheeses, cookies/candy, snacks and frozen items, and their limited edition stuff.

One thing I’m curious about, that I haven’t really seen solutions discussed, are communities that don’t have “city” water and sewers… I live in a rural town that relies on wells and septic systems, and the biggest challenge to any building, let alone lower income/more dense housing is an adequate water supply. How do you get around that?

Btw, huge agree about having a good transit system, which CT doesn’t. Where I live, not only are there no busses or taxis, but Uber and Lyft have to be booked days in advance, and there are no food or pharmacy deliveries. Everything is at least a 20 minute drive away.

Not sure where you live but I had an amazing experience with Ashes Away in Middlebury. They cleaned and inspected my chimney (way cheaper than anyone else) and he went up and checked the crown and flue tiles and took pictures so that I could see what was happening. He ended up having to replace the crown and flue tiles and add a chimney cap. He explained every single step and why it was needed, and I ended up hiring him to install my wood stove.

The constitutional amendment on early voting doesn’t specify how it would be enacted, it would just allow it. Early voting may take the form of mail-in voting or in person voting, or some hybridization of both. This is truly a case of “you have to pass it to see what it will look like”.

In my opinion, there are pros and cons to early voting, but to me the worst con is allowing the self serving state legislature anywhere near a new voting process. They barely understand how voting works in our state as it is, and to let them loose on our voting statutes is a recipe for disaster.
