Xtro could get remade nowadays and be pretty cool. It needed a decent budget and a decent director but it had a lot of potential deep down. It’s just one of those movies of it’s time like CHUD and Humanoids from the Deep that could benefit from the cheap and ubiquitous VFX of today

I’ve seen both! I recommend them both for different reasons. Most people seem to have only seen the newer one, which is great because of it’s budget allowing for better effects and setpieces. The original, on the other hand, has a very low budget (even for it’s time) which totally works in its favor because it feels much more real. They’re of different eras and but still carry the same underlying message. I wish I could be better about saying which one was definitively better. Probably the new one, but don’t take that as a reason to avoid the original, it’s a time capsule of early contemporary horror from 50 years ago

I watched Dashcam on Hulu on a whim the other day, and it was amazing. Scary enough, but funny too with one of the most abrasive but hilarious main characters I’ve ever seen. Deadstream was good, but the main character of that was annoying and childish and I couldn’t stand him nearly as much as I loved the girl starring in Dashcam.
