Yeah I just rewatched it a couple weeks ago. It truly is a well made film. Just front to back precision into craft. It’s a movie that could be a stage play and function fine, but is just constant expensive and overengineered camerawork. They put so much effort into the movie and all of it came together like a masterclass in filmmaking. You could study any individual aspect in it, from performances, to color grading, music, cgi, writing, anything about it, and you can gain insight from it to be a better filmmaker yourself if you tried. Fincher is fantastic at being like that, though. He just rules.

Steer clear of the older movies about him. They did a couple like a decade ago, but the main character is a bear and he smokes weed instead of bombing people. Totally not accurate.

Ted K is totally worth watching and probably unlike pretty much anything you imagine it would be like going in. Stylistically it’s very clear that it’s a visionary filmmaker’s passion project. Weirdly unique movie, but it’s fantastic. I feel like I got a lot out of it, and it’s like bold choice after bold choice that I really got a kick out of. Sharlto is in every scene and he does for the Unabomber what Charlize Theron did as Aileen Wournos in Monster, really humanizes and sheds light on a dark deeply disturbed person’s perspective.

The scene with the tank shooting the ground while it parachuted down to a lake is one of my favorite action setpieces ever. Whenever I see big action things in planes in movies like in Uncharted or The Gray Man or that one Mission Impossible I forget which one, it never satisfies me quite the way that A Team scene did. It felt like a perfect cartoon-meets-real-life style, which is a sweet spot that Marvel usually tries to aim for, but yeah, A Team has become totally overlooked.
It was way cooler than the Expendables, but like not as cool as John Wick. Or it was somewhere between the original Predator movie with the macho dudes in a crazy yet realistic action universe like Kick Ass

That’s the best short description of Hardcore Henry I’ve ever heard.
That movie was so good! The director’s next movie Nobody with Bob Odenkirk was a big hit but I was disappointed because it wasn’t as batshit awesome as Hardcore Henry was.

So when Waiting came out in 2005 is when I started working at a restaurant a lot like that one, and I’m not kidding, there was a lot of that ball showing game going on with the kitchen guys for like a year. I honestly can’t even remember if I did it too, I very well might have. Lol

Well hey, if you like the super troopers guys then check out Slammin Salmon! It’s a solid flick. Personally I’d rate it in between the two Waiting films.
I’ve been a waiter and bartender for more than half of my life (mostly in bar and grill type places like Shenanigans in Waiting), these movies will never get old for me.

Dunno what you think spun off means but it’s not this.
…unless you think Slammin Salmon is the movie Still Waiting, in which case that’s more accurate

Same with the movies Waiting and Still Waiting. All 3 of them are interchangeably accurate and funny

Yeah, I’m genuinely impressed with that catch. That’s really great. Things like that make me miss stuff like Pop Up Video back in the day where references or little details would be highlighted as they happen. Scott Pilgrim on Blu Ray had a feature like that with filmmaking facts throughout.
There’s just so many things in pretty much any movie that the audience has no idea the subtle significance of.
Also, Licorice Pizza fucking ruled.

This sounds awesome, like right up my alley. I’m gonna have to check it out! You seem to have good taste, and I’ve never ever heard of this one. Appreciate the heads up! If I could counter offer something kind of obscure in this vein that you didn’t mention: The Decline of Western Civilization part 3 from 1998. Recently saw it, and it could have been so much longer, it was endlessly interesting. Lots of cool LA gutterpunk footage.
