last year there were two apps and it was confusing and screwy so don't wait until the last minute to download! Also, the app historically only tells you when the runner has passed a handful of notable spots (5k, 10k, half, etc), so know what mile marker YOU are at, so when it says your runner is at mile 13 you know what that means for timing.

this sounds very appealing but route 2 doesn't go towards Vermont, can you clarify?

I could swear there was a post here in maybe the last few months from a guy on a mission to make his own perfect italian sub, but I can't find it. Did I make it up? Ring any bells?
Alternatively, what brand/style of jarred hots do I want for a similar calling?

I agree the snow isn't a reason to not bring a car, but I do live near the end of the B line without a car, have for almost 9 years, and it's fine. The trains go to the grocery store, and I use Zipcar to get out of the city. Some neighborhoods it's a nightmare to have a car so it has to really be worth it, this is not one of them, so it does come down to personal preference more, but I wouldn't say it's "really hard to grocery shop".

The B is slow but it's not useless, and the D is quite a walk from either of the buildings OP is considering, as is the commuter rail.

D line closures are returning next week, did the service ever get better on the shuttles? I walked from Newton Center to Reservoir a few weeks ago after waiting for half an hour.
