Reply to comment by Most_Interaction_623 in Trump protest fizzles out: "More reporters here than Trump supporters" by thepobv
The NY Times noted that the earliest date the grand jury could return an indictment was Wednesday. The whole "I am going to get arrested Tuesday" came from Trump himself, getting the process wrong.

The article actually gave an example of sanitizing wipes that expired on January 31.
Agreed, some of the stuff they're selling is don't have expiry dates, like disposal gowns. But some of the other stuff is literally junk sold to the City for exorbitant prices, like uncertified "N95" masks and the article lead-in "bridge vents" which were ever used and will never be used, as they're not actual medical devices, but rather something built by amatuers thinking this is how it ventilators work.

Hmm. I'm actually an outer borough kid -- northeast Queens, 30 minutes by bus past the Main Street stop of the 7. I don't refer to the lines by color (unless it's a simplification to explain things to tourists). On the other hand, I'm older, and will sometimes say/think things like "Lexington Avenue IRT" or something.

Well, sometimes we do the hard, difficult thing (like not use the colors) because it's the right thing.

To be fair, he may have been ordering separate dishes for each of his alters.

I feel that "George Santos" would be a cheap ass.

The people who get the parking lot landmarked are the people across the street enjoying the nice views of Brooklyn. If it's landmarked, no one can build a tall building that would block that view.

Reply to comment by IRequirePants in George Santos: “I have done nothing unethical” by newzee1
"When I was born, my mom, who sadly passed from cancer during the 9/11 attacks, named me Aristotle, and I later wrote a book that you might have read in college about ethics. When I emigrated to America, the people at Ellis Island gave me the name 'George' because Aristotle was too hard to pronounce. Since I was travelling alone, they gave me a last name of 'Santos', which means 'Solo' in Chinese, which I speak fluently."

Reply to George Santos claimed he had a brain tumor by newzee1
Writing prompt: you are an immortal being who has been alive since the Middle Ages, because of a wager between Death and her brother. You have lived many lifetimes under different guises, sometimes coming back as your own son, to keep your immortality a secret. These different life stories have gotten more difficult to keep track of, over these long centuries. You decide to run for public office on a whim, not realizing how deeply some reporters may delve into your fabricated background.

The usually Twitter feeds I look at to figure out if something is happening (the NYC Emergency Management one, and FDNY alerts) have nothing. Con Ed's twitter also doesn't have anything, so nothing major.

Remember, if there's a risk of the train coming into the station, turn on the flashlight of your phone and wave it left-right. It's the general signal to train operators to stop, and your flashlight might be more visible than a couple people down on the track.

No, it's for the building's basement. Air grates for the subway aren't usually right next to a building.

Reply to NYC subway booth clerks to become free-roaming station agents today by hiegel
IIRC, station agents were required to stay in the booth at all times because they would get lured out and have their booths robbed of all the tokens and cash. In the old days, robbers would set fire to the booths to force the clerks out for the robbery.
With both OMNY and Metrocard, I think particularly more as we've moved cashless with OMNY, there's nothing really of value in the token booths anymore.
