Obviously everyone’s definition of a bad book will differ, I was just generalizing.
And for your comment on the series statement, again, this is obviously a generalization. Not every series perfect.

Definitely the most important is to read what you enjoy. If you are reading a book you don’t like, get rid of it. Life is too short to read bad books, don’t force yourself to finish one of you don’t like it.
Also, find a series you enjoy because then you always have another book lined up to look forward to.
Those are what keeps me reading lots

Unique from what I have read. It was a far more interesting story than the generic general mysteries and thrillers that I generally read.

Reply to A question about Michael Connelly by MielsEdgeworth21
The cases are solvable by the reader, they have more of a mystery element rather than mindless thriller like other similar authors.
The Harry Bosch series is good at the start. Connelly starts to write a lot like James Patterson in the later novels which I really dislike. But if you’re a fan of JP then you would probably also like the later books.

I really enjoyed the books. The movies were okay. Overall, I think the series is a bit underrated.

Don’t set reading goals. I love reading and found when I started participating in the annual reading challenge on Goodreads, a lot of the joy got taken away from reading. I found myself purposefully choosing short books and rushing through books quicker than I should have just to get my reading stats up. As soon as I stopped joining the reading challenge I found myself enjoying books a lot more.

Reply to London book shop recommendations? by 3rd-eye-blind
I’m Canadian too and am also going to London for a few days next month! Will be my second time and I am also looking for more bookshops to visit.
I have been once before a few months ago and visited Hatchard’s on Oxford St. It was incredible! You should go there if in the neighbourhood.
On our list for our trip next month we are going to visit Word on the Water Book Barge (literally a bookshop floating on a barge) and Daunt Books Marylebone.
