MUDHONEY

Or at least, the once kings of the scene who stopped writing great material right around the time Nirvana took off. But they truly never strayed from their classic sound very much, a wilder take on 60s garage rock and Iggy / Stooges. Deliberately primitive.

As an aside, there had previously been a band called Green River. When they split up c1987, half would go on to form Mudhoney…the other half Pearl Jam. Hmmm.

You have no idea how much that reunion show meant to me. Those guys were my idols. I started going to see them before they even put out the King of the Joint 7”. I was almost certainly at the PVD payback shows recorded for that live album, and remember their final show at Lupos in Nov 2001 in great detail, including the party at the Biltmore afterwards.

Those were the days. what a great scene PVD had in the 90s…SMH I took it for granted like all young people do.
