There’s loads of flea markets scattered around the state and you can get some good finds. Englishtown auction is huge, there’s also Columbus flea market that’s pretty big as well. People are always selling used books for super cheap.

2.2k to 4k a month as take home? Even at 4k a month Princeton would be a tight budget with current housing prices unless you land a place with a roommate... or several.

Not sure what it’s like now but I redid my whole house during the pandemic. Labor wasn’t an issue, the lead times on the materials were the biggest setbacks. Our kitchen cabinets took over 6 months to come in.

I got a house with this one easy trick…I bought before Covid inflation and inventory. In all honesty tho I am sorry many are in this situation, you are right the prices for those smaller older homes are not worth it. If you aren’t tied down by a family or job I think relocation is the way.
