The economy is a function of the government. Specifically, it is a function of the United States government. Building renewables could have always been profitable because we could have shaped regulations to where that was the only option. Jobs would have still been created, value would have still been created, and the economy would have moved just as efficiently.

The only difference is there would be different winners and losers. Our government has always picked the same people who put us into this mess to be the winners.

They can have a lot of profits when they get nationalized and tried at the Hague.

So tired of politicians pretending that we can rely on the same people that put us in this mess to get us out of it.

Yeah I can't wait in 2060 to have half passable ai, a few good medical breakthroughs, and a mountain of tech scam nonsense to go along with our climate crisis that will displace too many tens of millions for any country to accept. Global poverty going backwards is sure a great time to be in.

Government and culture are more important than a tech tree to soyface at. Individual innovations are not going to save us and are not going to substantially improve the world enough to make up for the damage we are doing.

No way in hell am I putting a child in something called a self-driving stroller.

I'm going to be honest, I would rather this be impossible because I think it will be used for negative reasons more than positive ones.
