I assume that the US is like Canada, you have some 240v outlets (with different shapes) for things like clothes dryer, oven, possible welder in the garage, but outside of that everything is 120?

Also, if anyone ever buy a house with a chimney, get it fully inspected and cleaned up before using it. You have no idea if the previous owner was safe or not and it is a really dangerous fire hazard if you start a fire in a chimney that you have no idea is safe.

Next time people someone talks to you about this, ask him why a floatplane can takeoff if it has no wheels. What makes contact to the ground has no effect other than possibly slowing you down due to friction.

Solid steel mostly. And they are bigger than they look in the arena! And lets not forget that even a small electric motor can weigh a lot!

The plugs being different is for a purpose I think. In most houses the oven and the dryer use different wiring size because they pull different amount of power and you don't want to plug an oven in a dryer outlet.
