What do you mean by survivor's bias?

A lot of people (myself included) would say that there is no such thing as an espresso roast

Same, the occasional change of gaskets (once every few years) and it's as good as new.

When you say coffee, do you mean the beans, or the drink? :)

Never tried a La Pavoni. I think with good coffee, lever machines are probably similar in terms of results.

It's an Olympia Cremina 67.... first made in 1967.... the serial number shows that this one was produced in '76
The slightly yellowish marks on the mechanism are where the chrome has worn away and you can see the brass underneath.

Not too bad, my typing is quieter because the caps don't bottom out in the same way that the old ones did.
As for errant keypresses, hard to say because I do tons of those on any board....

Yup, the innards are just empty space, so putting a pi in there and swapping out the screen was pretty easy.

It's a linux machine in terminal mode in a tweaked super 8 viewer. One big benefit has been getting my touch-typing to a level where it is becoming enjoyable.
EDIT: I've scribbled down a few more details:

Reddit has one animation that I'm obsessed with. When you view a profile on a phone and as you scroll, the pfp gets smaller and appears after the name.

I'd definitely consider..... the keyboard snd the aspect ratio of the screen are perfect, if I could speed it up, even better...

I bought it for 30 eur a year or so ago because of nostalgia. It came with Windows XP on it and I popped linux on because I just wanted it to do the occasional bit of stuff unconnected to the internet. The pic was taken when I was updating things over ethernet.

Linux Mint.... there are leaner ones that I could use, but I use it rarely enough not to care about a slow boot up.

Pretty much.... some old amplifiers had vector-scopes on them but oscilloscopes are even better, and some talented people even made music specifically chosen to look good on an oscilloscope. I think I've put a link to the video somewhere in this thread...
