I was a student at Forsyth Tech when Obama visited. Winston-Salem was not destitute. Community colleges just provide an alternative to universities for students to learn a trade without taking on student debt. I think that was his overall message.

What a shit show. The NBC article makes it sound like the school administrators are a bunch of idiots who falsely claimed an active shooter incident. Meanwhile, the school remains on lockdown while the cops are investigating the "non-threat"?!

My friends and I gift each other books. I either pick something off their Goodreads "Want to Read" list, a book from an author I know they like, or a new book I believe is in their wheel house. I include the receipt so they can exchange it if they want.

I found The Nightingale to be too slow for me. I shelved it as DNF. That said, I studied WWII in college and went on a bit of a WWII historical fiction tear soon after, and I think it burned me out on the genre by the time I got to this book.

I otherwise enjoy most KH books. The Great Alone is one of my all time favorite novels, and I loved The Four Winds. However, The Winter Garden was on par with The Nightingale for me, another DNF for being boring.
