Personally, I think Elvis is a classic. And the cover is definitely iconic, but the album itself isn't as classic as some of his other albums in my opinion. Classic Elvis is his Aloha from Hawaii album for me.

It is an interesting topic.

I think Frank Sinatra belongs in this group, but couldn't think of which album to go with. I like your choice.

Glen Gould's Bach: The Goldberg Variations was huge and is probably a good contender for a classic classical album from the 50s.

Some of the songs definitely stand on their own, in my opinion. But their fame early on definitely made people more likely to hear their work. So, I don't think it is very easy to separate the phenomena of fame from their longevity as songwriters. I do have a,lot of respect for Paul McCartney, when I was younger everyone seemed to attribute the best songs to John Lennon, im.not so sure about that any more.

The Clash.

I rediscovered a lot of country artists as an adult that I loved as a kid. Johnny Cash, Dolly, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson. So technically they are all the artists I've listened to and loved the longest.

The Clash have held up so well.over the years for me, though. Loved them in high school, still do 40 years later..
