I think about this a lot.

When we lived in a place with a bath, it was common for me to take at least one bath per day, to help with the pain I'm in.

Assuming I have any, my grandchildren will never believe that I would just sit in a pool of hot, potable water like that. I can hardly believe it myself.

I read that there was an upsurge of interest in getting vasectomies in the United States following the reversal of Roe vs. Wade.

I wondered if you could give some comment on that. Have you noticed more interest or procedures since the reversal?

Kahramanmaraş has a a large population of refugees, there were more than 17,000 at one refugee centre. These people were living on the knife edge every day, I cannot imagine what this catastrophe will do to them...

For all of the current regime's considerable flaws, Turkey hosts the most refugees in the world, at last count they had 3.7 million such people. That level of generosity should be commended, and I'm happy to see so many nations and individuals racing to help however they can.

But neither Syria nor Turkey is in a position to absorb this catastrophe - nearly one in five people in Turkey were malnourished prior to this event, for example.

If you are able, please consider donating to the International Rescue Committee or a similar charity.

I'm secretly in one with my husband. He doesn't know yet.

He's reading a list that is several hundred books long, and the first book he mentioned to me sounded really good. So I'm reading it too. I'd like to read of them and bounce ideas off of him and vice versa, it would be fun.

But I'll see how he responds to having a member in his club.

EDIT: husband is reading novels which evoke aspects of the history and current character of every nation in the world, A-Z.

This is partially just to read some fiction, he reads a lot of grim reports for his work... but it's also to help him better understand the world, since his field is in human rights and geopolitics.

I told him I was doing this, in general we're trying to find more times to hang out as a couple now that our kid is in nursery, and he was touched.

But he's way ahead of me - I think he might be on the Bs - but I'm currently reading A General Theory of Oblivion.

I highly recommend it.

I laughed like a drain when I learned that Texan Republicans didn't want American schoolchildren learning about critical thinking. That's so transparently evil and short-sighted...

Between that and lead in the drinking water in millions of American homes, I'm actually impressed by how well America is doing.
