I don't think big budget TV was really a thing at that point, to be honest. If you started making money hand over fist with a show, you would just keep cranking on the formula and buy a new house. There was no reinvestment into the show. Makes sense really - the market is fickle and if the show lost popularity the next year, the additional money would be lost.

I thought of that, but it's more of a comedown from being all over the TV and streaming comedy landscape steadily since he was a child. Not the same as an early flame out or spiral into obscurity like the others listed.

Thing too. I was concerned they would just lose that aspect of the original characters, but they've done a real good job preserving it. Armisen as Fester is awesome.
